Failure Analysis Study Of 3-way Threaded Ball Valve In Service Limiting Factors

Date:

In fact, 3 Way Threaded Ball Valve only require a 90-degree rotation and minimal torque to achieve a tight shutoff. The perfectly flat inner cavity of the valve body provides a straight, low-resistance flow path for the medium. Stainless steel ball valves can be used to control the flow of various fluids, including air, water, steam, various corrosive media, slurries, oils, liquid metals, and radioactive media. A long service life and maintenance-free period depend on several factors: normal operating conditions, a harmonious temperature/pressure ratio, and reasonable corrosion data.

Research on Service Limitations:

1. Temperature and Pressure Limitations

The maximum permissible operating pressure of a stainless steel ball valve at its maximum and minimum operating temperatures. For valve seats and seals made of PTFE or RTFE, the operating temperature should be between -290°C and 200°C. The operating temperature of other types of valve seats and seals should be verified by the KI factory.

2. Nominal Pressure Rating (PN)

The nominal pressure rating (PN) of a stainless steel ball valve indicates the maximum operating pressure of the valve at normal temperature. (For example, PN 4.0 indicates a maximum operating pressure of 40 bar (4.0 MPa) at an operating temperature of -29°C to 38°C).

3. Complete Unit Testing

During installation, do not use the valve actuator as a lifting point to avoid damage to the actuator and accessories. Before installation, perform a complete unit test using the specified signal (electrical or pneumatic) to prevent vibrations caused by transportation that may affect performance. Only after passing the test can the valve be installed online (wiring should be performed according to the electric actuator wiring diagram).
